Notes for William Fraser
“Doreen with her Great-grandparents at Venture” dice al dorso de esta foto enviada por Dot Ancell a Escocia, entre 1930 y 1932, reenviada por mail el 27/10/01 por Jacqui Swan. Fraser y Sra. con Doreen Patterson en Ventura.
Jacky Patterson nos dice que Ventura era una estancia de los Fraser, que son originarios de las Falklands.

Now the Fraser Family. No proof yet but I am sure they would have also come from Dumfries, Scotland.
I need to look in the records of the Falkland Island Company (FIC) to discover their point of origin, as William Fraser was a shepherd for the FIC. at Burnfoot, Lafonia. East Falklands. William married Sarah Patterson at Darwin on 24/5/1877,

John FRASER (AFN: 1LJ4-T4L)

Birth: 1834
Christening: 7 Nov 1834, Urquhart, Inverness, Scotland
Parents:
Father: Alexander FRASER (AFN: 1LJ4-T0R)
Mother: Anne CUMMING (AFN: 1LJ4-T10)

Elizabeth Fraser who married James Alexander Patterson was also the child of another old Falkland Family, and they have connections with Campbell, Fell and Bethune families many of whom emigrated to Chile and Argentina.
The reason that so many Falkland Islanders left the Islands for South America was, that it was difficult to obtain land to set up farms for themselves here in the Islands as most of the land was owned by the Falkland Island Government, or very wealthy BIG businessmen like the Falkland Island Company, Dean Brothers and Packe Brothers.
Thank you so much for the photographs as well as other names and dates you e-mailed to me. It is really good to see the persons who until now have just been a name in a file. I have more names and dates to send to you if you are interested in finding out about the Fraser family. William and Sarah Fraser and their 9 children.

Clan Information
The Frazer family is distinguished as a Clan in it's own right with a rich extensive history. Did you know, that in ye old days a family could not qualify for clan status unless they had the proven ability to put 250 armed men ahorse within one hour to defend their clan, lands and properties. As well as providing a fighting men for their leige lord and king.
The Frazer family first appears in the records of Tweedale where they were recorded as an ancient Tweedale family before the year 1100. The Frazer family is shown in the ancient manuscripts and cartularies as tracing their ancestry to Norman origin.
Notes for Sarah (Spouse 1)
Sarah Patterson, was the eldest daughter of George Patterson and Sarah Stewart (m) 19/7/1859 at Kirkcudbright, Scotland and I am researching them at the moment to see if George and Thomas were brothers or cousins.
